Privacy notice

How we handle your personal information

This notice explains what personal information Innovation Guru collects through this website and its forms, why, and what rights you have under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Last updated: 30 October 2026

Who we are

The responsible party is Innovation Guru (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2017/115714/07. Our Information Officer is Dr Petro Rousseau, who can be reached at petro@innovationguru.guru.

What we collect, and where it comes from

We collect information only from you, when you choose to send it:

  • Support requests: your name, organisation, role, country, email address, phone number if given, and the details of your request.
  • Consultant registration: your name, contact details, country, languages, areas of expertise, work experience and any CV or links you supply.
  • Email: whatever you include when you write to us.

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The forms are hosted by Microsoft Forms, which applies its own cookies and terms when you open them.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your request, scope work and prepare a proposal.
  • To consider consultants for projects that match their skills and to contact them about those projects.
  • To keep records of engagements as required by law, for example for tax purposes.

We do not sell personal information or use it for marketing lists.

Is providing it voluntary?

Yes. If you choose not to give us the information a form asks for, we may not be able to respond to your request or consider you for consultant work.

Who we share it with

Your information is stored in our Microsoft 365 account. We share consultant profiles with a client only when proposing you for a specific project, and only after you have agreed. We share support requests with a network consultant only where that consultant is needed for the work, and they are bound by confidentiality.

Transfers outside South Africa

Microsoft may store or process form responses and email on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on Microsoft's contractual data protection commitments. If you are a client or consultant based outside South Africa, your information will be transferred to us in South Africa.

How long we keep it

Support requests that do not lead to work are deleted after 12 months. Consultant profiles are kept until you ask us to remove them, and we will check with you at least every two years whether you want to stay registered. Engagement records are kept for as long as the law requires.

How we protect it

Access is limited to Innovation Guru, protected by multi-factor sign-in, and information is not stored on removable media.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date or no longer needed;
  • object to us processing your information;
  • withdraw consent you have given, such as for a consultant profile;
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

To use any of these rights, email petro@innovationguru.guru.
